Clinical Orientation - Making the Transition

AUC’s extensive clinical orientation program ensures that students are prepared to fully transition to the clinical aspect of the medical program. During your semesters as a Basic Medical Sciences student you will be introduced to a variety of services and resources available through the Office of Clinical Student Affairs—through “Town Hall Meetings” during the first three semesters; a pre-orientation meeting during the fourth semester; and finally, a comprehensive clinical orientation session during the fifth semester. As a clinical student, you will be able to schedule individual appointments with OCSA counselors and staff to explore individual concerns, preferences and possibilities.

In addition, AUC hosts an annual faculty symposium on the medical campus. Clinical faculty from all hospitals offering core clerkships, and many hospitals offering elective clerkships, are invited to attend. Students are able to meet and speak with the clinical faculty in an informal setting in order to facilitate their selection of a core training site for their third year of education.
