Travel Documents/Requirements

It is important that you secure the necessary documentation prior to traveling to St. Maarten. For your convenience, we have listed the documents that you (and your family) will need in order to live on the island of St. Maarten during your studies. If your country of origin is not listed below, please contact your consulate's office to inquire about the required travel documents. You should also refer to the entry requirements information contained in the official St. Maarten Web site.

Temporary Residency Permit Documents:

To acquire a temporary residency permit, you will need to provide MEAS with the following documents for yourself (including your spouse and any children who will be living with you on St. Maarten) 30 days prior to the start of the semester:

  • A legible copy of all pages of a valid and signed passport
  • Three original passport size photographs (2x2)
  • Police Report/Letter of Good Standing from your local Police Department (less than 6 months old)
  • Copy of certified birth certificate
  • Copy of Marriage Certificate - must bring original with you

St. Maarten Entry Requirements:

To acquire a temporary residency permit, please bring the following documents for yourself (including your spouse and any children who will be living with you on St. Maarten) 30 days prior to the start of the semester: 

   United States Citizens / Residents

  • Valid passport
  • Acceptance Letter
  • Naturalized citizens must show an original naturalization certificate with photo identification.(optional)
  • Permanent Residents (Green Card) must have a valid passport

   Canadian Citizens / Residents

  • Valid passport
  • Acceptance Letter
  • Canadian Permanent Resident Card

   All Other Countries

  • Visas are required from certain countries. Please contact your consulate to find out if you are required to obtain a visa or other documentation
