American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine (AUC), founded in 1978, is one of the oldest Caribbean medical schools. AUC offers a diversity of students a high-quality medical education. Our graduates are practicing medicine in some of the most prestigious hospitals in the country and many are chief residents at their hospitals, entrusted with overseeing fellow physicians and responsible for entire divisions of patient care.
At AUC, we believe that the complex healthcare landscape of tomorrow will require a different type of doctor — one capable of working as part of a cohesive team to deliver empathetic, extraordinary care to patients. AUC’s central tenet is that we can accomplish more together than we ever could on our own. And for more than 5,000 AUC graduates practicing around the world, that tenet has worked.
The following points of pride attest to the quality of our medical education program.
We have more than 5,000 alumni who are practicing in all 50 US states, Canada, and more than 20 other countries.
Our students' performance on Step 1 of the United States Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE)—an important statistic looked at by residency directors when selecting candidates—is on par with United States and Canadian medical schools.
AUC graduates regularly compete for and obtain residency positions at prestigious healthcare institutions and academic medical centers, with many in leadership positions.
