Visiting Assistant Professor of Pathology

American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine

Dr. Dufour is a visiting Assistant Professor of Pathology at American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine. He is alo a Consultant, Pathology and Hepatology, at the Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center, Washington DC, and Emeritus Professor of Pathology, George Washington University.  After graduating from the Medical College of Wisconsin, he completed residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD.  He has held several positions as head of Clinical Chemistry before becoming Chief, Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the VA and Medical Director of the VA VISN5 Pathology Service Line, a position he held for 13 years prior to his retirement form full-time work in 2004.  He is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology as well as in Chemical Pathology.  He has published over 200 peer-reviewed papers, abstracts, and book chapters, and has been lead editor on nine books.

He has received numerous awards, including the 2014 Henry Wishinsky International Service Award from the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry, the 2013 Outstanding Contributions in Service to the Profession from AACC, the 2012 College of American Pathologists Excellence in Education Award, the 1999 AACC Outstanding Contributions in Education Award, and the 2004 Edward Rhodes Stitt Lectureship of the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States.
