Associate Dean for Clinical Student Affairs

Kimberly Kirkland, PsyD, is the Associate Dean of Clinical Student Affairs. In this role, Dr. Kirkland provides oversight to the Office of Clinical Student Affairs and serves as Chair of AUC’s Admissions Committee. She works closely with the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs for the St. Maarten campus to provide students with a smooth transition into the clinical sciences.  She is a strong advocate for AUC students during their clinical training, and her goal is to maintain students’ sense of community and support after leaving the island. Additionally, Dr. Kirkland assists students in developing adequate study plans and/or remediation plans for NBME testing including Clinical Subject Examinations, Clinical Comprehensive Examination, and USMLE Step 2 Clinical Knowledge and Clinical Skills Examinations. 
 
Dr. Kirkland is a practicing clinical neuropsychologist with specialty training and experience in forensic psychology. Prior to her current position, Dr. Kirkland served as a visiting faculty member and as Visiting Assistant Dean of Student Affairs at AUC. She was previously employed as a neuropsychologist at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, where she worked closely with cardiothoracic surgeons monitoring the cognitive outcomes of cardiac surgery patients. Dr. Kirkland is a contributing editor for PsycCRITIQUES, a full-text database of the American Psychological Association, where she regularly contributes scholarly reviews of current psychological texts and psychologically-relevant films.
 
Dr. Kirkland earned her doctoral degree in clinical psychology with concentration in neuropsychology from the Georgia School of Psychology of Argosy University. She completed her pre-doctoral internship training at the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences.
