Hiroko Yoshida, Ph.D.

Dr. Yoshida earned her Ph.D. in biophysical chemistry in 1984 at New York University. She was a National Research Council postdoctoral fellow at Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute, Bethesda, Maryland. She joined the Health and Safety Research Division, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Oak Ridge, TN in 1986. She has experience in DNA research for binding of carcinogens and radiation damages. She has also various experiences in instrumentation for analytical chemistry, synthesis of biopolymers, which were applied to the medicinal devices and development of biological UV dosimeter (US Patent Number: 5,891,682). She received Martin Luther King Award and George Granger Brown Award in chemistry. Before she pursued her career in science, she was a registered nurse.
