Joining your classmates in St. Maarten is easy and enjoyable if you’ve secured all travel documentation prior to your departure.

Below you’ll find the documents that you and your family will need in order to travel to and live on the island of St. Maarten while you study at AUC.

Temporary Residency Permit Documents

To acquire the necessary temporary residency permit, you will need to provide AUC with the following documents for yourself as well as anyone who will be living with you on St. Maarten within 1 month of acceptance, but no earlier than 5 months prior to the semester start.

  • A color copy of the photo/information page of a valid and signed Passport

  • Three original passport photographs (2×2) are required for non-US and Canadian citizens

  • Original Police Report/Letter of Good Standing from your local Police Department (less than 6 months old) or a fingerprint card ( that you can also complete at your local police department. The government of St. Maarten will accept either one.

The laws of St. Maarten require residence permits for all students. The annual cost is $280 (500 guilders). For U.S. and Canadian residents, this will be billed along with your tuition and due at orientation. For international students (visa required) payment is required with the Enrollment Registration Fee payment a minimum of 60 days prior to arrival in St. Maarten.  This payment can be paid here under Residence Permit Fee by clicking here
