American University of the Caribbean is approved for the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP). Financial aid is awarded on the basis of "need," which is determined from information supplied on the Free Application for Federal Financial Aid (FAFSA). Graduate/professional level students are considered independent by federal regulations for the FFELP, therefore it is not necessary to supply parental information. Financial aid application materials consist of the FAFSA, the AUC financial aid application, entrance interview checklist, loan application and promissory note addendum, and when applicable, documentation of citizenship, permanent residency or eligible non-citizen status. AUC's school number for completing the FAFSA form is G22444. Qualified citizens and permanent residents of the United States may receive funding from federal and privately sponsored loan programs to fully cover the cost of attendance (tuition, books & supplies, accommodation and travel). For more information on eligibility for federal loans, interest rates, and loan disbursement, please click here. Veterans and their dependants may receive funding per the eligibility requirements set by the Veteran's Administration, Department of Veteran Affairs, Washington Regional Office, 1120 Vermont Avenue, N.W., Washington, DC 20421 (877-823-2378). Recipients of federal loans go through an exit interview process prior to graduation or separation. Loans will be summarized and terms of repayment, deferment, and responsibility will be reviewed. Student borrowers are awarded loan funds to pay for their education on the basis of a promise to repay after leaving school. Failure to do so can result in adverse consequences.
