Griffin Hospital

Griffin Hospital Residency Programs combine the academic advantages of an internationally recognized university medical center with an excellent progressive, medium-sized community hospital. The facility provides care for approximately 100,000 people who live in six towns, an area known as the Lower Naugatuck Valley.

In collaboration with Yale University School of Public Health, Griffin offers most innovative training programs in Combined Internal Medicine and Preventive Medicine. It also offers Preliminary Medicine, Categorical Internal Medicine and Transitional Residency Programs. Griffin Hospital also co-sponsors a Surgery residency with St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, CT. Griffin Hospital is a member of the Planetree Alliance, a San Francisco based-organization with a strong belief in patient-focused care.

AUC students are eligible to undertake core clinical rotations in the areas of Internal Medicine and Surgery at Griffin Hospital. The required elective rotation in Family Practice is also available. Residents are provided with an intense teaching program in a personalized, friendly and stimulating atmosphere. The various clinical departments are closely integrated and readily accessible, allowing for excellent, personal communication.
