Wellness Counselor

The Wellness Counselor is dedicated to providing confidentiality in order to facilitate student access to necessary help.  Counseling records are kept separate from academic records, and information from sessions is not accessible to university personnel or others.  You will be provided a confidentiality form at the first meeting, where the Wellness Counselor will explain the policy and answer your questions.

Common counseling concerns include homesickness, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, difficulties with cultural adjustment, grief/loss, and academic concerns. Group therapy, a support group or family counseling, are often more appropriate for some students. A referral may be necessary for some services such as medication.  The Wellness Counselor will work with you to access the type of help you need.

The Counselor’s office contains a library of information on a variety of topics including stress management, test anxiety, depression, cultural adjustment, etc.
