What AUC Families Say...
Read what AUC family members have to say about their experience…
“When we first found out we were accepted to AUC, my husband contacted the Spouse’s Organization. A sponsor was soon assigned to us and she was amazing. We had so many questions before moving to St. Maarten - from how to buy a car, car insurance, health insurance, work for me, money, daily life on the island, what to bring, to classes and professors for my husband. It is a great organization and has definitely made my experience here much easier.”
“The Spouses Organization was definitely a positive asset that many other schools did not have. Therefore, it did have an impact in our decision to attend AUC. We knew it would give me a chance to be a part of the AUC community.”

There is a tremendous positive energy here at the AUC Spouse’s Organization that is very contagious. We are all here to support one another. My SO sponsors gave that to me and I hope I did spread it to whomever I meet in St. Maarten. I had a sponsor named Darleen who was leaving the island the day after my family arrived. She made sure someone else took her place so that we didn't feel stranded. My other sponsor arrived in St. Maarten a couple of months before my family and I did. She opened up her home and fed us, since we were living in our hotel room. After I found my apartment, she helped my family get situated until we had everything we needed. She was like a long lost friend whom I had not seen in a while. We are very good friends now. So you see, for all of you who have not caught the AUC SO “fever,” please get it, and stay very close to someone who has it. You will make the best friends and create the best memories in doing so. I know I did!

My husband had just been accepted to AUC and we were making definite plans to move to St. Maarten when I discovered I was pregnant with our second child. I had some serious reservations about moving so far away from family and friends with a toddler and a new pregnancy. We felt that medical school at AUC was what we were meant to do, so I began corresponding with several Spouse’s Organization members about what to expect and was assigned a sponsor. We moved to the island in August 2004 and I found a “family” away from my own family. I’ve been blessed many times by the caring and supportive group here and would not trade these months and all the memories for anything. When I was ill, my “family” here kicked in and rallied around me with support and kindness. I’ve made friends to last a lifetime and have been blessed to be a part of such a caring group of people.
