 UK Orientation and Sign-Up at St. Maarten Campus
AUC’s UK Clinical Dean, Dr. Steve Ash, Dr. Sohaib Bukhari (AUC grad), and the UK Coordinator, Ms. Helen Black will be on campus March 18 to talk about tracked clinical rotation opportunities in the UK and to sign-up interested 5th Semester students.

Please check your AUC email on March 18 for a link to the quarterly Student Satisfaction Survey. Your feedback is much appreciated and lets us know what we in the clinical offices are doing well and where you see areas of opportunity.  We want to know!

2016 Commencement Ceremony
The 2016 AUC Commencement will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2016 in the Maho Room at the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort in St. Maarten. All graduates participating in this year’s ceremony must also attend a mandatory pre-ceremony meeting, held in the evening on Friday, May 27, 2016 in the Royal Pavilion. Gowns, tams, tassels and ceremony tickets will be distributed during the pre-ceremony meeting. Due to the growing size of our graduating classes the ceremony will be split into two sessions, morning and afternoon. You will be assigned to a session following the RSVP deadline, set for January 29, 2016. See the ceremony schedule for more. View the 2016 graduation ceremony schedule here.

Clinical Skills Assessment – New Dates Added
We are pleased to announce additional dates being offered for the Clinical Skills Assessment.  The Clinical Skills Assessment is provided to better prepare you for the United States Medical Licensure Examination® Step 2 Clinical Skills (CS). This complementary assessment is provided though DeVry University’s Becker Professional Education at sites in the U.S. (Chicago, Miramar, Detroit and New York). 

For those of you who are close to completing all of your graduation requirements and not have yet taken and passed the USMLE Step 2 CS, you are eligible to register for a location and date that is most convenient to you. To register, click here.

Goodbye and Welcome
Mr. Alejandro (Alex) Carrasco, JD has joined AUC as Manager of Clinical Affiliations. In this role, he will take the lead in the ongoing management of our clinical partnerships.  More information on Alex may be found in the Colleague Spotlight

Mr. David Saenz, AUC’s Registrar, has been promoted to the additional role of Senior Manager of Clinical Student Services and will direct the Office of Clinical Student Affairs. 

Ms. Idalia Gonzalez recently joined the OCSA department at AUC in the newly created position of Student Services Specialist. This position was created to serve as a resource for Clinical Advisors with involvement in the day-to-day support provided to students. Ms. Gonzalez has many years of experience in student services with Ross University School of Medicine as well as private school administration and guidance counseling. 

In the Office of the Registrar, we say goodbye to Mr. Brad Schmidt who served as the Manager of Registrar Services for two years.  He has taken a position as Manager of Field Operations with DeVry University’s Becker Professional Education. The Office of the Registrar welcomes Ms. Amy Casimiro as Associate Registrar.  Amy re-joins AUC after departing as a clinical student advisor in 2014.

Ms. Sophia Pino left the Office of Student Professional Development at the end of 2015.  Congratulations to Ms. Pino and her fiancĂ© on their upcoming marriage!  Mr. Ed Lopez has joined AUC as an OSPD Advisor. Ed is replacing Ms. Sophia Pino and will be advising students on the residency application process and physician state licensure. Ed has over 10 years of advisory and managerial experience in various industries ranging from construction and heavy industry to advertising and higher education.
