Accommodations

Living on St. Maarten for your medical school experience will provide memories that last a lifetime. At American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, we take a great deal of pride in the accommodations we provide to students.

On-Campus Student Housing

During your first semester—and perhaps your first year—at AUC, you will likely live in the student dormitory, adjacent to campus. Our student dormitory was completed in 2002, creating beautifully furnished one and two-bedroom units. Dormitory highlights include:

  • Spacious, fully equipped kitchen with refrigerator, stove, and microwave
  • Bathroom for each bedroom
  • Wired for telephone, Internet, and cable TV
  • Air conditioning
  • Dining and living area
  • All units furnished (dining room table/chairs, sofa, bed, desk/chair)
  • Many have balconies with breathtaking ocean views
  • All have magnificent views; open to trade winds
  • Recreational amenities, including a fully equiped gym
  • Walking distance to the beach
  • Breezeways and shaded exterior areas
  • Laundry facilities

Housing assignments are on a first-come, first-serve basis. A $1,650 security deposit is required to reserve on-campus accommodations. The fee per person to rent is:

  • Single bedroom; single occupancy (total occupants: 1): $5,000/semester
  • Double bedroom; single occupancy (total occupants: 2): $4,200/semester

Off-Campus Housing

New students are not required to live on campus, while families are required to live off campus. The housing office has a list of off-campus housing. If you need help locating a place to live, you can enlist the services of any of a number of real estate agencies on the island.

AUC students live in a variety of towns, none of which are far from the AUC campus. Some towns that are popular places for students to live include:

  • Beacon Hill
  • Cupecoy Beach
  • Pelican Key
  • Point Pirouette
  • Simpson Bay
