Kern Medical Center
Kern Medical Center is a 222-bed acute care teaching hospital that serves a community of approximately 650,000. The hospital is owned and operated by the County of Kern and is the only local hospital dedicated to physician resident training.
With knowledge and expertise from over 1,300 staff members, Kern Medical Center is an academic teaching hospital that trains more than 90 residents specializing in Emergency Medicine, Family Practice, Internal Medicine, OB/GYN and Surgery. Affiliations with UCLA, UCSD, and UCI Schools of Medicine, give nearly 1,000 visiting doctors, researchers and other professionals an opportunity to assist our 65 full-time faculty physicians and take an active role in the teaching process.
AUC students are eligible to undertake all core rotations and the required Family Practice elective at Kern Medical Center.
