Spring Grove Hospital Center
Spring Grove Hospital Center is a 330-bed complex that provides a broad spectrum of inpatient and residential psychiatric services to adults. The Center is owned and operated by the State of Maryland, Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. It is located in Catonsville, just outside of Baltimore.
Fully accredited and certified, Spring Grove has an ongoing commitment to providing psychiatric care and treatment of the highest quality. It was founded in 1797 and is now the second oldest continuously operating psychiatric hospital in the United States.
Spring Grove maintains a number of student teaching programs and serves as a popular training site for many professional schools, including the University of Maryland. Its commitment to its international medical student program is reflected in Cottage 5, where medical students are provided housing and study space on the Spring Grove grounds.
AUC students are eligible to undertake core clerkships in Psychiatry at Spring Grove Hospital Center.
