Core & Elective Rotations at Hospitals

AUC students have the option of completing clinical rotations in the U.S., England or Ireland. In order to facilitate evaluation of clinical opportunities, a profile of each affiliated hospital site is provided in this section of the web site.

All hospitals in England and Ireland offer all core rotations. The profile for each American hospital sets out the core rotations that are offered, and usually describes electives that are also available. Currently, AUC students rotating in the U.S. are able to complete all core rotations within one geographic area.

5th semester students will be interviewed by AUC’s core coordinator to determine clerkship site preferences and confirm the student’s progress toward passing the USMLE Step 1. Students should note that AUC’s new policy requires them to pass the USMLE Step 1 prior to commencing core rotations, subject to a narrow exception. This policy is detailed in the Student Handbook, that is distributed the first day of registration on the medical campus.
