Marios Loukas AUC provides an opportunity for a solid medical education. I've enjoyed my time here because I have also enjoyed all that the island has to offer such as the beaches. I played basketball in an island league and took martial arts classes on the French side of the island. Balancing my life with these activities has made me a better student. I would tell a student considering AUC, 'If you are highly motivated, you will have everything you need here to become a good doctor.' Steven Brooks
Before I came to AUC, I was an x-ray tech in California and then in Michigan. It has taken a lot of hard work for me to get to here, but it has been worth it. Making the decision to come to AUC was simple. Not only did I get to start medical school a year before I would have in the States, I am living in the Caribbean for twenty months. I have always wanted to be a doctor. No matter where you attend medical school, it will be a challenge. In the fifteen months that I have been here, I have learned a lot about the body. I cannot wait to apply this newfound knowledge when I get to clinical rotations. After I have completed five semesters here, I have many options available for clinical rotations: Ireland, England, St. Thomas, or the States. In six months instead of a five-minute walk to AUC, I could be riding the tube to work in London, England. Jody Bahnmiller
If you are truly committed to pursuing a career in medicine, AUC will provide you with a solid foundation for the future. You receive the requisite academic training in a beautiful tropical atmosphere rich in culture and opportunities for personal growth. Rizwana Fareeduddin, M.D., 2001
I am a graduate of American University of the Caribbean and did my residency in Internal Medicine at Providence Hospital, Michigan and currently have staff privileges at Providence Hospital. I have a very large and successful private practice and also moonlight in the Intensive Care Units. I owe this success to AUC who trained me academically and allowed me the opportunity to become a physician. As American Board Certified Internist, I am also on the teaching staff at Providence Hospital. I teach residents and medical students, of both foreign and U.SD. schools, the pathophysiology of various diseases and the proper treatments. In comparing AUC medical students to U.S. students, I find AUC students not only at par in knowledge but also extremely hard working and dedicated. I am very pleased with the new physician graduates from AUC. They have the proper knowledge, skills, and ethics required to be wonderful physicians. Eric Basmaji, M.D., 1998
