Call for Submissions

Deadline: January 28, 2019


Conference attendees are invited to submit abstracts for Posters, Short Oral Communications, and Workshops. The submission deadline for all three is January 28, 2019. Decisions will be communicated by January 31, 2019. Please send your submissions as Word attachments in an email to ccdm@aucmed.edu. Include "Abstract Submission" in the subject line of your email.

Conference Themes

Abstract submissions related to the following themes are particularly encouraged.

  • Training for Healthcare Workers and First Responders
  • Inter-professional Education and Curriculum
  • Research Results
  • Policy and Protocols
  • Experience with Disasters (especially hurricanes)
  • Emotional and Behavioral Impact of Disasters

 

Deadline for Submissions

The deadline for all submissions is January 28, 2019 by 5:00 pm ET (USA).  We regret after this date we are unable to accept any further submissions. Decisions will be announced by January 31, 2019.

 

Posters

Posters will be arranged by theme in the Exhibit Hall. The following guidelines should be used in preparing your poster abstract submission:

Abstract Submission 

  • Abstract Title
  • Abstract Authors (up to 6 authors may be listed)
  • Abstract Structure (Headings) - Background; Summary of work or concepts; Summary of outcomes or evaluation results; Discussion and Conclusions; Take-home Messages, 3-5 Learning Objectives.
  • Word Count - 350 (Structure headings are included in the word count)
  • Select 1 key topic listed above or type ‘Other’

Information for poster presenters

  • Prepare a PORTRAIT poster of maximum size (To be confirmed). 
  • Please bring your poster with you – do not send it to us in advance.
  • The session to which your poster has been allocated will be indicated in the final program which will be on the conference website.
  • Posters can be mounted on Friday March 8, 2019 in the Exhibit Hall.  A board will be provided, labelled with the poster number, title and authors. Fixing materials will be provided.
  • Posters should be removed by March 11, 2019.

 

Short Oral Communications

Short oral communications are simultaneous, themed sessions included throughout the program. The number of presentations will be determined by the total length of the particular session to which the presentation is assigned. Each presenter is allocated 10 minutes for presentation followed by 5 minutes for questions. A Chairperson will coordinate the session.

  • Abstract Presenter (a maximum of 1 presenter is permitted and should be the lead author submitting the abstract)
  • Abstract Structure (Headings) - Background; Summary of Work or Experiences; Summary of Results; Discussion, Implications and Conclusions; Take-home Messages; 3-5 Learning Objectives.
  • Word Count - 350 (Structure headings are included in the word count)
  • Select 1 key topic listed above or type ‘Other”

 

Workshops

A select number of workshops will be selected for presentation at the Conference. Conference workshops are 1.5 hours’ duration, and should be highly interactive and participative. There is no additional charge for attending conference workshops.

  • Maximum number of participants - please specify a maximum no of participants
  • Room requirements - please specify if you have any specific room requirements
