She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Florida. She then started medical school at American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine (AUC) where she had the opportunity to do clinical rotations in London, UK as well as in New York City. She trained in Ob/Gyn at St Luke’s University Hospital in Allentown PA where she served as an attending physician and was actively involved in the teaching of Ob/Gyn residents and medical students.
Dr. Paredes loves to see patients for routine yearly exams and preventive visits. She believes in preventive medicine and educating patients to increase compliance and improve outcomes. She has a special interest in improving the health of the young community via teaching them and providing them with contraceptive education, pregnancy and STD prevention. She loves to encourage young women to pursue a career and to be goal oriented. She has ample expertise in multiple gynecologic surgeries such as hysterectomy and tubal ligation, among many others.
At this year’s commencement ceremony, Dr. Paredes was presented with the Alumni Excellence Award. AUC presents the Alumni Excellence Award to recognize the recipient’s dedication and commitment to serving their community. The nominations are brought forward by members of the student body or by members of the broader AUC community and are ultimately chosen by the AUC Alumni Board.
Dr. Paredes was nominated for her extensive involvement with the AUC student body through coaching, mentorship, and lectures. She has spent countless hours sharing her expertise as an OB/GYN and inspired many AUC students to pursue this same specialty. Dr. Paredes truly embodies the spirit of AUC, and we are incredibly grateful for her tremendous support and enthusiasm in inspiring the future generation of physicians.
She is married to a Bariatric surgeon, also an AUC graduate, who she frequently runs into at Baptist Hospital. She has three beautiful children who make her very happy. Her children motivate her every day to work hard and be a better person. She is a very positive person and thanks God daily for all her blessings. She is a very hard-working doctor and is very approachable. On her free time, she enjoys playing with her kids and spending time with her family.
