September White Coat Ceremony

The White Coat Ceremony is a time-honored event that marks the official entrance of matriculating AUC students into medical school and the medical profession. In the presence of family and friends, students receive their first white coat—a symbol of bestowed trust to carry on the tradition of doctoring.

Keynote Speaker 

We are pleased to have Dr. Kate Essad serve as the ceremony keynote speaker. 

Dr. Essad is a 2012 graduate of AUC and a board certified neurologist. She currently works as a sports medicine neurologist with Aurora Health Care in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and is responsible for advancing the care of athletes with neurological injuries and conditions. She is one of few fellowship-trained sports neurologists in the country and the first and only in the state of Wisconsin. In her daily practice, Dr. Essad works to advance of the care of student athletes, olympians, and professional athletes in the NFL, NHL, and NBA.

Dr. Essad completed a residency in adult neurology at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and a sports neurology fellowship at the Sports Neurology Clinic in Brighton, Michigan.


The White Coat Ceremony will be livestreamed on AUC’s YouTube channel at The stream will automatically load once the event begins.


Each student will be photographed in their white coat and in front of the university’s emblem. Photographs will be uploaded and made available to all students after the event.


Directly following the ceremony, students and their guests are invited to attend a dinner reception at Porto Cupecoy Marina. Shuttle transportation will be provided to and from the university.


Due to Hurrican Irma, hotel space is limited in Sint Maarten. We encourage families to check for availability at Simpson Bay Resort & Marina, which is about a 15 minute drive from AUC's campus in Cupecoy and an 8 minute drive from the Princess Juliana Airport.
