Armen Haroutunian, MD ’14 took home 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards for his poster presentations at this year’s Midwest Anesthesia Residents’ Conference (MARC). Held April 13-15 in Cincinnati, the conference provided an opportunity for anesthesiology residents across the region to network, share scholarly activity, and present interesting cases to their colleagues.
Dr. Haroutunian is a PGY-3 Anesthesiology resident at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. His presentations covered the topics of Neuroanesthesia and airway management:
•Intracranial Subdural Hematoma: A Rare but Feared Complication of Obstetric Epidural Analgesia
•Nerve root avulsion is not a contraindication for stellate ganglion block in a patient with established CRPS
The MARC, which began at the University of Iowa in 1961, has grown into the largest anesthesia resident's conference in North America and in the world, with attendance approaching (and sometimes exceeding) 700 individuals each year.
