*The 3-year first-time residency attainment rate is the weighted average of the 2022-23, through 2024-25 academic years. For each year, the rate is the percent of students attaining a residency out of all graduates or expected graduates in the year who were active applicants in the NRMP match in that year or who attained a residency outside the NRMP match in that year. The 1-year first-time residency attainment rate is 95% for 2024-2025 graduates.
Dr. Zynab Hassan: A Passion for Healing and for Paying It Forward
In first grade, Zynab Hassan, MD ’09, was so fascinated by a book in her school library about the human body – “How We Cough, Sneeze and Hiccup” – that the library dedicated the copy to her. “I just had this curiosity about how the human body worked,” she says. It was the beginning of a lifelong curiosity and passion for medicine.
Today, Dr. Hassan serves as medical director of urgent care services at Holy Cross Health in Florida, with more than a decade of practice behind her in a specialty field she describes as the perfect fit. “Urgent care is the ideal mix of emergency and family medicine,” she explains. “You have to think fast and know a little about everything and be ready to switch gears with every room. One patient could be a toddler with a fever, the next a 90-year-old with a broken wrist, the next someone needing blood pressure meds.”
