*The 3-year first-time residency attainment rate is the weighted average of the 2022-23, through 2024-25 academic years. For each year, the rate is the percent of students attaining a residency out of all graduates or expected graduates in the year who were active applicants in the NRMP match in that year or who attained a residency outside the NRMP match in that year. The 1-year first-time residency attainment rate is 95% for 2024-2025 graduates.

Take your next step to becoming the doctor you’ve always dreamed of. It’s possible with AUC by your side supporting you all along the way.
Fellowships offer a pathway for physicians to hone their skills in a subspecialty through structured training and research, and the options continue to expand. Among the new additions to the National Resident Matching Program® (NRMP®) Fellowship Match for 2018 is gynecologic oncology, which focuses on the study and treatment of malignancies arising in the female reproductive tract.
The NRMP lists 50 programs that are participating in the December 2018 application cycle, including five that are new participants this year. Gynecologic oncology fellowships are three to four years in length, typically with two years of clinical exposure that includes medical oncology, radiation oncology, surgical intensive care, palliative care and more, as well as a year or more of research. Fellows are involved in all aspects of the patients’ care, from initial evaluation to treatment and terminal care. Some programs, such as the University of Virginia, offer an option to attain a Master of Public Health or other master’s degree during the designated research period.
Applicants may begin applying to programs starting December 1. At the completion of the fellowship, they are eligible for board certification in gynecologic oncology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Additional information on the subspecialty can be found through the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists at www.sgo.org.
