This time of year has holiday songs playing in the back of my mind. The music you hear throughout stores and malls, the colors and joy of the season—it all brings a smile to my face and reminds me of home. That’s exactly how I felt when AUC hosted a holiday event on campus after Thanksgiving. It was the kickoff to a month of celebration that adds a little extra light in the winter.
Earlier in the week, a large Christmas tree had been decorated in the rotunda, one of the main gathering spaces on campus. The main event was the tree lighting ceremony to officially start the season.
Children of AUC students, staff, faculty and other members of the community joined in the festivities to help light the tree, making it a truly family-friendly event.
Attendees had plenty of options to enjoy a seasonal treat or beverage. Food stations offered everything from hot chocolate and popcorn to paninis and waffles on a stick.
There was a special appearance by Santa, who gave out all sorts of gifts and stuck around for pictures and smiles.
It was an amazing way to start the holiday season. Times like these when the AUC community comes together, from students to faculty, staff and friends, help you feel like part of a big family all celebrating together.
