New students capped their first day of medical school by gathering in the school’s auditorium to participate in the traditional White Coat Ceremony.
Four months after Hurricane Irma caused AUC to evacuate students and faculty from Sint Maarten, AUC has resumed classes on its Sint Maarten campus.
When Jawed Safi began shadowing physicians at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN, he knew he would gain valuable experience for his medical school applications. Little did he know that he would also forge a remarkable connection with AUC graduate Ravi Madasu, MD ‘99 and earn a competitive scholarship to AUC with Dr. Madasu’s recommendation.
AUC alumna and Board of Trustees member Gemma Kim, MD ’03 recently received a competitive fellowship from the Association of Departments of Family Medicine
The initiative, which connects hundreds of students, colleagues, and extended family members to volunteer opportunities throughout Sint Maarten, regularly results in more than 600 hours of community service a semester.
Meet three AUC grads and first-year residents who, after going international for medical school, have returned to practice in or near their hometown.
