Clinical Skills Simulation Center

Advancing Excellence Through Simulation

At AUC’s Clinical Skills Simulation Center contains high-tech manikins that respond just like real people to provide practice encounters before meeting an actual patient.

Purpose

Our Simulation Center is designed to develop competent, empathetic physicians through hands-on simulation and standardized patient encounters. Students build clinical skills, strengthen teamwork, and practice care in a safe environment before treating real patients.

Strategic Intent

The Clinical Skills Simulation Center reflects AUC’s commitment to world-class training and unwavering student support as we strive to prepare physicians to engage with both the science and human sides of medicine.

Values

We’re guided by excellence in education, innovation in methodology, integrity in practice, compassion for learners and patients, collaboration across disciplines, reflection for continuous growth, and improvement through evidence-based approaches.

Objectives

Our goals are to help future physicians connect classroom concepts to patient outcomes and to develop the six competencies of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME): professionalism, patient care and procedural skills, medical knowledge, practice-based learning and improvement, interpersonal and communication skills, and systems-based practice.

Why Train in AUC’s Simulation Center?

Excellence is built on experience. Rehearse your skills in a state-of-the-art hospital environment. High-tech Laerdal SimMan 3G  manikins present acute emergency cases that challenge your clinical decision-making in real time. Our standardized patients—trained actors who bring authentic medical histories to life—teach you to see the person beyond the symptoms as you practice the thousands of micro-decisions that add up to excellent care.

How Simulation Supports Your Medical Education

Here, every mistake strengthens your skills. It’s a safe, realistic, clinical environment where you can be wrong, learn why, and grow stronger—all before a patient’s well-being depends on getting it right.

Hands-On Training With High-Tech SimMan 3G Manikins and More

Work with “Harvey” the heart-sound simulator, our SimMan 3Gs, ultrasound systems, and our Butterfly probes. Each of these key tools reacts immediately to your decisions. Insert the wrong medication? Vitals change. Miss a critical finding? The scenario evolves. This is how your thinking becomes instinct.

Clinical Rooms for Real-World Practice

Our clinical rooms are designed to mirror actual medical environments. You’ll practice reading body language, delivering difficult news, and earning patient confidence. You’ll also master history-taking skills, physical exams, ultrasound techniques, and diagnostic thinking as you learn to connect with a patient who needs your help.

Interprofessional Team Training With Faculty and Nurses

You can’t  practice medicine alone. A faculty attending physician guides you while a nurse collaborates with you, giving you hands-on experience with the team-based approach used in clinical settings.
