Mohammad Saleem Farooqi, MD
Dr. Saleem Farooqi received his medical degree from The University of The Punjab Lahore in Pakistan. He completed his medical internship at Nishtar Hospital Multan in Pakistan followed by a surgical internship at Services Hospital Lahore. He taught Physiology for couple of years at Allama Iqbal Medical College Lahore in Pakistan before moving to England in 1979, where he spent most of his professional life as a hospital doctor.
Dr. Farooqi received further education and training in England, eventually becoming an Orthopaedic Surgeon. His main interest remained in trauma and general orthopaedic surgery until 2000, when he began specialized training in foot and ankle surgery. During his last years as an orthopaedic surgeon in England, Dr. Farooqi was heavily committed, in collaboration with his senior colleague, in providing tertiary service for foot and ankle surgery at Warwick General Hospital in Warwick.
During his years of training and practice in England, Dr. Farooqi was always involved in medical teaching. While at Warwick Hospital in England, he was in charge of CME, the teaching and training program, and was on the administration for the Orthopaedic Department. He moved to Vancouver, Canada in 2006 and joined the Faculty of Medicine at University of British Columbia in 2008 as an adjunct professor and honorary lecturer. Dr. Farooqi taught undergraduate medical students there until 2013. Before he left, he was awarded the ‘UBC MDUP Roche Oncology Award for Clinical Skills’ for his dedication and commitment to excellence.
Dr. Farooqi joined AUC in August 2014 and brought with him more than 30 years of medical teaching experience in clinical and academic settings, spread over 3 continents.
