In 2021, Dr. Jennifer Douglin joined AUC to teach anatomy in the Department of Basic Medical Sciences. She was previously employed as an assistant professor of anatomy at Ross University School of Medicine where she also managed the Student Anatomy Lab TA program.
Dr. Douglin studied anatomical sciences at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec and then went on to receive a doctor of chiropractic degree from Parker University in Dallas, TX. She worked in a multidisciplinary clinical practice for approximately 12 years with her colleagues that included DCs, MDs and DOs with an emphasis on treating musculoskeletal injuries and performing therapy and rehabilitation for primarily sports injuries and work-related injuries. She later transitioned to healthcare management and worked as the primary healthcare manager at a community health center and as clinic administrator at a family health team in Ontario, Canada. During that time, she was a member on various committees that included a chronic disease prevention and management workgroup, the Scarborough Diabetes Network Committee, the Regional Family Health Team Administrators Network and the Diabetes Regional Coordinating Committee for the Central Local Health Integrated Network (LHIN) in Toronto.
In 2015, she completed a master’s of science degree in human anatomy and physiology instruction due to her interest in the philosophy of teaching and learning. In evidence for her love of teaching and commitment to student success, Dr. Douglin was awarded the Double Helix Award for Basic Science Teaching at Ross University School of Medicine in 2017 and is a two-time recipient of the Ron Taylor T.E.A.C.H Award (now known as the Adtalem Excellence Award) from Adtalem Global Education.
