Maryna Kornieieva, MD, PhD
Although Dr. Kornieieva received her MD in General Surgery in 2008, she was always obsessed with anatomical studies. Dr. Kornieieva began her independent research on the cerebral circulation being a 2nd-semester medical student and had it completed by the date of graduation. She had concurred her dissertation during the second year of her surgical residency and received an “Intern of a year” award (2007).
In 2008 she was offered the position of Assistant Professor in Clinical Anatomy with Operative Surgery Department in Ukraine. Then, she was invited to the Middle East (2011) and taught clinical aspects of human anatomy to medical and dental students in Jordan and Saudi Arabia. Access to the anatomic database in various parts of the world opened new horizons for her research, allowing to compare the range of variability in different populations. Since summer 2017, Dr. Kornieieva is a member of AUC’s community as a Faculty of Anatomy and Embryology Department. She currently teaches the “Head and Neck” block, coordinates cadaver’s dissection and imaging courses, and serves as an adviser for students interested in surgery.
