Alasdair McKendrick, MD

Dr. Alasdair McKendrick has served as AUC’s Clinical Chair of Surgery since 1990. A graduate of the Royal
College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland, Dr. McKendrick moved to the United States in 1972 to complete a surgical
residency at Providence Hospital (now Ascension Providence Hospital) in Southfield, Michigan and a colon and rectal surgery fellowship at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. He returned to Providence Hospital in 1983 to establish a colorectal surgery private practice before eventually retiring in 2012. Dr. McKendrick continues to serve Ascension Providence Hospital in a teaching capacity as the Associate Program Director of the General Surgery Residency Program.
