MD Program Objectives
Institutional Objectives
The mission of AUC is to train tomorrow’s physicians, whose service to their communities and their patients is enhanced by international learning experiences, a diverse learning community, and an emphasis on social accountability and engagement.
AUC is dedicated to developing socially responsible and clinically superb physicians. Graduates of our Doctor of Medicine degree program are resilient, collaborative, scientifically adept, and able to take charge of their own continuing education and meet the needs of evolving populations and healthcare systems.
Educational Program Objectives
Faculty ensure that the educational program’s learning objectives, curricular materials, and learning environment are conducive to engendering successful medical professionals. The AUC objectives are designed to allow graduates to demonstrate proficiency in the six core competencies as outlined by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Assessment methods and tools within the AUC curriculum are designed to allow students to demonstrate continued progression toward the expected competencies.
ACGME Core Competencies
Good interpersonal and communication skills result in the effective exchange of information and collaboration with patients, their families, and other health professionals.
Provide patient-centered care that is compassionate, appropriate and effective for the treatment of health problems and the promotion of health
Demonstrate the ability to investigate and evaluate one’s care of patients, to appraise and assimilate scientific evidence and to continuously improve patient care based on constant self -evaluation and life- long learning
Demonstrate a commitment to carrying out professional responsibilities and an adherence to ethical principles
This competency demonstrates an awareness of and responsiveness to the larger context and system of health care, as well as the ability to call effectively on other resources in the system to provide optimal health care.1

AUC Curriculum FAQs
Yes, AUC accepts transfer students from other accredited MD programs.
No, AUC operates under a rolling admissions policy with three possible start dates—in September, January, or May.
