*The 3-year first-time residency attainment rate is the weighted average of the 2022-23, through 2024-25 academic years. For each year, the rate is the percent of students attaining a residency out of all graduates or expected graduates in the year who were active applicants in the NRMP match in that year or who attained a residency outside the NRMP match in that year. The 1-year first-time residency attainment rate is 95% for 2024-2025 graduates.

MEDICAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR CANADIAN CITIZENS
This $90,000 USD scholarship is awarded to qualified applicants who are Canadian citizens. Dual citizens are not eligible.1
HOW TO QUALIFY
Accepted applicants are automatically considered.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- New incoming first semester students or eligible transfer students who meet the minimum requirements outlined below are eligible for review:
- Proof of Canadian citizenship or Canadian permanent resident status. U.S. dual citizenship and U.S. permanent resident status are ineligible.
- Hold an undergraduate degree (bachelor’s level)
- If a transfer student is accepted with advanced standing, their maximum award amount will be prorated.
- Students need not apply for this scholarship. It cannot be combined with other institutional scholarships or grants unless explicitly stated in the award terms.
- Meeting the criteria above ensures you will be reviewed for the scholarship but does not guarantee a scholarship will be awarded. AUC reserves the right to modify the terms, conditions, and availability of institutional aid at any time and without prior notice. Scholarship availability will be evaluated each session.
AWARD DETAILS
- $90,000 scholarship equally distributed over ten semesters, beginning with AUC MD Program’s 1st academic semester.
- If the total tuition assessed for a term is less than the combined value of eligible scholarships, the semester award will be prorated to match the tuition amount. This does not affect the scholarship’s lifetime maximum—any unused portion will carry forward until the maximum is reached.
- This scholarship is non-transferable.

At AUC, we have rigorous standards when considering applicants. Yes, we look at the whole person—we want to know about one’s life experience, volunteerism, maturity, and commitment—but we also look closely at how a candidate performed academically as an undergraduate and their MCAT score.

If you are accepted, for a legal extended stay in Sint Maarten, you must have your passport stamped with the appropriate student visa from the Sint Maarten government. The government of Sint Maarten, with AUC’s support to facilitate the internal coordination process, will process the student visa prior to the tourist visa stamp expiration date in your passport (from when you first arrived in Sint Maarten). When you arrive in Sint Maarten, you will need to present your passport. You must show proof of a return date ticket.
Short answer: No, you do not have to be a premed student to apply to medical school.
