Clinical Skills Assessment
AUC has partnered with Becker Professional Education (Becker) to develop a complimentary Step 2 CSA (Clinical Skills Assessment) for AUC students. The program covers six Standardized Patient (SP) encounters in a test-like setting, including:

C3NY 3-Day New York City Step 2 CS Workshop
C3NY, the Clinical Competence Center of New York, is an independent educational organization founded by Dr. Mark Swartz, an internationally recognized medical educator. Dr. Swartz’s research over the past 25 years has centered on improving medical education and assessment of clinical competence.
The three-day preparatory workshops, offered monthly in New York City, prepare candidates for USMLE Step 2 CS. It includes a live interactive lecture with video review, a live interactive session accompanied by an SP that fully demonstrates physical examination techniques necessary for the USMLE Step 2 CS examination, and standardized patient encounters with all participants, followed by direct feedback from Dr. Swartz, the SP,and another medical educator. Program participants have the opportunity to write two timed Patient Notes, which are reviewed along with a discussion of all medical issues related to the scenarios.

Becker-C3NY 2-Day Chicago Step 2 CS Workshop
This comprehensive and interactive two-day workshop on history taking, physical examination, and communication skills is specifically geared to the USMLE Step 2 CS examination.
The first day includes a live interactive lecture by Dr. Swartz on communication skills, and a demonstration of the complete physical examination techniques necessary for USMLE Step 2 CS. On day two, students have the opportunity to interview a SP in front of the class after which time, feedback will be given to the student by the SP, Dr. Swartz, and another medical educator. The day concludes with a review of all Patient Notes and discussion of all medical issues related to the scenarios.

New York Clinical Skills Prep
This course will prepare students for all components of the USMLE Step 2 CS, including Integrated Clinical Encounter (ICE), Communication and Interpersonal Skills (CIS), and Spoken English Proficiency (SEP). Students will learn how the exam is graded, what the standardized patients are looking for and how to write patient notes.
