Ian Scobie, MD, FRCP, received his bachelor of medicine (MBChB) and MD from the University of Glasgow before earning his FRCP from The Royal College of Physicians of London. He trained clinically in general medicine, endocrinology, and diabetes in Glasgow and London and worked as a consultant physician and endocrinologist at Medway Maritime Hospital in Kent, England. Dr. Scobie was appointed Honorary Senior Lecturer at King’s College London School of Medicine in his capacity of Clinical Sub-Dean for undergraduate students at his institution. He also served as Site Director for American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine between 2003 and 2009.
Dr. Scobie has a research interest in his specialty of endocrinology and diabetes and has published extensively in his field. He has authored and co-authored chapters in diabetes and metabolism and textbooks of diabetes. Dr. Scobie has maintained a longstanding commitment to medical education at both undergraduate and postgraduate level having been chair of specialty training committees in endocrinology and diabetes and general medicine at both the London and the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Deaneries.
