Students enrolled in our medical program spend two years studying in beautiful  Sint Maarten, followed by two years of clinical training in the U.S. or U.K.

Semester 1

Molecules to Medicine (20 Credit Hours)

The Molecules to Medicine module will provide students with a current understanding of the intimate interplay between molecular structures and functions, intracellular molecular systems, and human pathologies using a systemic approach.

Semester 2

Hematology, Oncology, Attack and Defense (10 Credit Hours)

he Hematology, Oncology, Attack and Defense module provides a comprehensive and in-depth study of normal and abnormal blood physiology, hematological oncology, pharmacology, histology and embryology, pathology, immunology, and microbiology.

Musculoskeletal and Skin (10 Credit Hours)

Musculoskeletal and Dermatology module aims to examine the organ systems of the skin and the musculoskeletal structures.

Semester 3

Cardiovascular (10 Credit Hours)

The Cardiovascular module will provide students with a detailed understanding of the cardiovascular system that integrates knowledge from scientific disciplines and clinical medicine.

Respiratory and Renal (10 Credit Hours)

The Respiratory and Renal module will provide students with a detailed understanding of the respiratory and renal systems that integrates knowledge from scientific disciplines and clinical medicine.

Semester 4

Gastrointestinal and Nutrition (10 Credit Hours)

The Gastroenterology-Nutrition module will discuss and integrate the normal anatomy, embryology, histology, and physiology of the gastrointestinal system and the role of nutrition in human health.

Endocrine and Reproductive (10 Credit Hours)

The Endocrine and Reproductive module will concentrate teaching on normal and abnormal male/female reproduction and normal and abnormal endocrine function.

Semester 5

Brain and Behavior (10 Credits Hours)

The Brain and Behavior module will integrate and discuss the normal and abnormal anatomy, embryology, histology, and physiology of the central and peripheral nervous system.

Clinical Reasoning (10 Credits Hours)

The Clinical Reasoning Course serves as a capstone experience to the medical sciences curriculum.

Take Admissions Assessment

Degree Details

Students will complete AUC’s standard medical sciences curriculum. Students then proceed to United States Medical Licensing Examination® (USMLE®) Step 1 and the clinical sciences portion of the program. This degree track can be completed in four years.

Students must then take and pass USMLE Step 1.
Students complete clinical clerkship rotations in the wide network of AUC-affiliated teaching hospitals.

MD Program

This degree track is open to qualified students holding a Bachelor’s degree who seek a rigorous medical education program designed to help them master the basic medical sciences and develop the necessary clinical skills to practice medicine.

Location

AUC's has two program sites across the world to facilitate both U.S. and non-U.S. citizen’s medical education. U.S. citizens study at Sint Maarten for years 1 and 2. They then complete their degrees at affiliate hospitals in the U.S. or U.K. for years 3 and 4.

Sint Maarten Campus

Study in Sint Maarten (for years 1 and 2)

U.S. citizens are enrolled at the Sint Maarten and get to take in the beauty of the island while completing their studies. After the two years in Sint Maarten students complete their studies in affiliate hospitals around the world.

Hospital Affiliates

All AUC medical students, regardless of which program they choose have the option of completing clinical rotations at affiliated hospital teaching sites in the United States and United Kingdom.

Residency Placements

Preparing our students to attain a medical school residency placement is one of AUC’s highest priorities. Each year, AUC graduates apply for and obtain residencies in a variety of postgraduate training programs throughout the world.

Admission Requirements

Our MD program is open to qualified candidates who have completed undergraduate requirements for medical school. They must possess a first degree, minimum Bachelor’s or equivalent, in any discipline (science-focused study preferable but not mandatory), from an accredited university.
