The Summit Award at AUC was created to support and reward students who demonstrate dedication, grit, academic persistence, and high academic outcomes during their course of study. The initial award offers a scholarship of a minimum of $48,000 over 10 semesters with a maximum scholarship possible of up to $100,000 by achieving key academic milestones (escalators) throughout the MD program. (All amounts in U.S. dollars)
Eligibility:
- Eligibility applies to new students starting in January 2026 and future terms. This scholarship reflects the current award structure
- Acceptance into AUC MD program beginning in Semester 1. Successful MERP completers are ineligible for this award.
- Students who are accepted into the AUC MD program and have met all requirements to secure enrollment through deposit or exemption (e.g., eligible partnership) for their place will be automatically considered for this award; students need not apply for this scholarship.

Initial Award:
- Students meeting these criteria will be reviewed for the scholarship and will initially qualify for $48,000, the minimum level of the Summit Award, structured as follows:
- $48,000 initial award towards tuition equally distributed between Semesters 1-5 (as defined in the student handbook) and five (5) clinical science semesters ($4,800 per semester across 10 semesters).
Continued Initial Award Eligibility:
- Continuous enrollment in AUC MD program. Students who repeat a semester will have their initial scholarship paused for the duration of the repeated semester. Subsequent progression to the next semester will result in resumption of the initial award.
Academic Milestone (Escalator) Awards:
- A student enrolled at AUC in the Summit Award in Semester one AND who earns a grade of 85% or higher for each module through the end of Semester 4 of medical sciences (without failing any single module), shall be awarded an additional $12,000 in scholarships, equally distributed between Semester 5 and five (5) clinical science semesters.
- A student enrolled at AUC in the Summit Award in Semester 1 AND who completes medical sciences in 5 consecutive semesters without any academic failures shall be awarded an additional $15,000 in scholarships, to be equally distributed between clinical science semesters six (6) through ten (10) as denoted by student’s clinical science semester designation.
- A student enrolled at AUC in the Summit Award in medical science Semester 1 AND who:
- Achieves a score of 65 or higher on the first attempt of NBME® CBSE exam in medical science Semester 5, and
- Takes and passes USMLE® Step 1 on first attempt within 1 semester of completing medical sciences, and
- Begins clinical rotations no longer than 60 days after AUC receipt of USMLE® Step 1 score;
shall be awarded an additional $25,000 in scholarships to be equally distributed between the clinical science semesters six (6) through ten (10) as denoted by student’s clinical science semester designation.
The escalators defined above are stackable with each other and with the initial scholarship award to produce a maximum award of $100,000.
Continued Academic Milestone (Escalator) Award Eligibility:
- Students on an approved absence may retain eligibility for the award and escalators subject to the discretion of the University Dean. The AUC Origin Advancer Award was created to support and reward completing the MedOrigin course with a passing score. The initial award offers a scholarship of up to $60,000 over 8 semesters by achieving key academic milestones through the MD program. A minimum of $35,000 will be awarded.
Initial Award Eligibility:
- Awarded to students successfully completing MedOrigin.
- Complete MedOrigin with a passing score. Progress into AUC MD Semester 1 coursework. Students who are accepted into the AUC MD program and have met all requirements to secure enrollment through deposit or exemption (e.g., eligible partnership) for their place will be automatically considered for this award; students need not apply for this scholarship.
- This award cannot be combined with other scholarships/grants unless otherwise allowed by other scholarship/grant criteria. Successful MERP completers are ineligible for this award.
- Students meeting these criteria will be reviewed for the scholarship and will initially qualify for $35,000, the minimum level of the Origin Advancer Award, structured as follows:
- $35,000 initial award towards tuition equally distributed between Semesters 3-5 (as defined in the student handbook) and five (5) clinical science semesters ($4,375 per semester across 8 semesters).

How to Apply:
This scholarship will be awarded to qualified applicants during the enrollment process, after submission of a completed application to AUC. The university will send scholarship applications to eligible individuals.
This full tuition and administrative fees scholarship is awarded to qualified applicants who are citizens or permanent residents of Sint Maarten. Up to four of these medical school scholarships can be awarded per academic year and are awarded in the order of the applicant’s acceptance to AUC.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Citizens or permanent residents of the country of St. Maarten
- Incoming first-semester students and eligible transfer students
- Hold an undergraduate degree (bachelor’s level)
- Hold an offer of admission to AUC
- If a transfer student is accepted, granted advanced standing, and scholarship-eligible, that student’s maximum award amount is dependent on his/her semester of placement and the lifetime maximum award will be prorated.
Award Details:
- This scholarship covers all tuition and administrative fees costs, so long as the recipients maintain satisfactory grades throughout their enrollment at AUC.
- In the event the total tuition assessed is less than the scheduled semester award amount of all eligible scholarships, the total semester award is prorated to match total tuition assessed for the term. This does not impact the lifetime maximum of the scholarship, any remaining amount from the award would be carried forward until the lifetime maximum is met.
- This scholarship is not transferable.

- Completion of MERP with a 70% grade or higher
- Matriculation to AUC for the MD program
Award Details:
- Scholarship awards ranging from a lifetime maximum value of $15,000 to $45,000
- Actual award amount determined by MERP grade (refer to Student Handbook for award amounts)
- Allocation of scholarship money to be spread out evenly between academic semesters 1–10 of the MD program
- In the event the total tuition assessed is less than the scheduled semester award amount of all eligible scholarships, the total semester award is prorated to match the total tuition assessed for the term. The Step UP to Success Grant at American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine (AUC) was created to support Pre-Step 1 students in their preparation for and success in taking the USMLE® Step 1 and beginning their clinical rotations. The grant offers a maximum of $33,083 possible by achieving key academic milestones. (All amounts in U.S. dollars).
Eligibility:
- Pre-Step 1 students who completed medical sciences with AUC and are registered for the January 2026 Medical Sciences Capstone (“MSCap”) Elective.
Initial Grant:
- $14,000 in tuition discount applicable toward tuition costs for the January 2026 MSCap.
- A housing grant for the January 2026 MSCap as follows:
- Either an on-campus housing grant of up to $5,083, based on availability and is non-transferable, or
- An off-campus housing grant of $3,000.
- Applied as a tuition credit and is non-transferable.
AUC Grant Escalator:
- A student enrolled in AUC’s MSCap with the Step UP to Success grant AND who:
- Completes MSCap, passes the CBSE* administered in MSCap with a score of 65 or higher, and

Award Details:

Award Eligibility:
- Award value: $20,000 applied towards tuition equally distributed between Semester 1-5 (as defined in the student handbook)
- Limited awards available to new students entering the MD program in May 2026
- Meeting the criteria ensures you will be reviewed for the award but does not guarantee an award will be given. This award may be combined with other scholarships and grants at the discretion of the scholarship committee. Where other awards indicate non-stackability, an exception will be permitted for recipients of the Service First Award.
- Must meet the following minimum eligibility criteria:
- Undergraduate GPA of ≥ 3.0 OR a conferred post-baccalaureate degree (Master’s or higher)
- Accepted directly into MD program for Semester 1 (MedOrigin and MERP completers are ineligible)
- Submitted enrollment deposit or provided exemption (e.g., approved partnership)
- Must submit a short-written statement (300 word max.) demonstrating:
- Community involvement
- Leadership ability
- Passion for helping others
Continued Initial Award Eligibility:
- Continuous enrollment in MD program. Students who repeat a semester will have their award paused for the duration of the repeated semester. Subsequent progression to the next semester will result in resumption of the award.

AUC MedOrigin Award

MedOrigin is designed to seamlessly integrate core medical school concepts with targeted study strategies, offering students an opportunity to enhance their academic skills in the context of foundational medical education. The course emphasizes both cognitive and non-cognitive factors critical to the successful completion of medical school.
Initial Award Eligibility:
- Any AUC applicant who has been selected for the Medical Education Readiness Program (MERP) may be given the option by the Admissions Committee to instead enroll in and successfully complete the MedOrigin course as a condition of their progression into the semester 1 MD curriculum. The course may be subject to enrollment limitations.
- Students who are accepted into the MedOrigin course and have met all requirements to secure enrollment through deposit or exemption (e.g., eligible partnership) for their place will be automatically considered for this award; students need not apply for this scholarship.
- Students meeting these criteria will be reviewed for the scholarship and will qualify as follows:
- Students with a US country of residence will receive a 30% scholarship of MedOrigin course tuition and administrative fees
- Students with a country of residence outside of the US will receive a 50% scholarship of MedOrigin course tuition and administrative fees

Rising Star Award

Students who are accepted into the AUC MD program and have met all requirements to secure enrollment through deposit or exemption (e.g., eligible partnership) for their place will be automatically considered for this award; students need not apply for this scholarship.
The Rising Star Award at AUC was created to support and reward students who demonstrate dedication, grit, and academic persistence during their course of study. The award offers a scholarship of $12,000 over 3 semesters. (All amounts in U.S. dollars)
Eligibility:
- January 2026+ start for New Students
- Acceptance into AUC MD program beginning in Semester 1. Successful MERP completers are ineligible for this award.
- Students who are accepted into the AUC MD program and have met all requirements to secure enrollment through deposit or exemption (e.g., eligible partnership) for their place will be automatically considered for this award; students need not apply for this scholarship.
- This award cannot be combined with other scholarships/grants unless specifically stated. AUC reserves the right to modify the terms, conditions, and availability of institutional aid at any time and without prior notice. Scholarship availability will be evaluated each session.
- Awards are limited to current open terms and will be granted to eligible students in the order seat deposits or exemptions are received, until all available awards are exhausted.
- Must have an MCAT score of 484 or less.

AUC Pathways Partnership Benefit

This award includes an agreement with participating Partnership Pathways schools and organizations. Eligible individuals may be considered for direct admission to AUC or for conditional acceptance through the Medical Education Readiness Program (MERP) or MedOrigin course.
Applicants may be required to include their referral or program affiliation at the time of application and provide supporting documentation, such as a letter of recommendation or proof of participation/employment.
