Sreeshma Padiyath, PhD
Sreeshma Padiyath, PhD is an Assistant Professor and Lecturer in Medical Microbiology at AUC School of Medicine's UK Track program. Dr. Padiyath has more than 9 years of experience in imparting medical microbiology to medical (MD, MBBS) and paramedical students along with performing research and clinical reporting. Dr. Padiyath pursued her master’s degree in Medical Microbiology from Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, India and doctoral degree from Yenepoya University, India.
From 2007- 2017 she was associated with K.V.G Medical College & Hospital, Sullia, India, where she administered all areas of medical microbiology education to medical, nursing and allied health sciences course students. In this role, she developed and successfully implemented team-teaching method to make laboratory teaching sessions active and student centered. She was instrumental in designing and development of the microbiology museum. She has had the privilege of guiding several postgraduate and undergraduate student research projects towards its successful completion.
During her tenure with KVG Medical College and Hospital she was also functioned as clinical microbiologist and recognized internal auditor as per ISO 15189-2012. Dr. Padiyath’s research interests include antibiotic resistance, biofilm and analyze the effect of natural products to inhibit the quorum sensing and its action on expression of various virulence factors. She is a recipient of research grant of two million for infrastructure strengthening in the department of microbiology from Vision Group on Science and Technology, Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of Karnataka, India. She is also a recipient of prestigious Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program fund from Govt. of India for young entrepreneurs for establishing clinical diagnostic center.
Prior to her current role at the ACU UK-Track, Dr. Padiyath worked as UAE-Ministry of Health certified Clinical Scientist in Medical Microbiology speciality and Lab In-Charge in a MOH governed medical center. She has published scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals and presented her research results in scientific conferences. She has conducted several collaborative research works and actively collaborates with international researchers for her research works. She lives in Preston, UK with her husband and son. She is interested in baking, gardening, quilling and passionate about painting.
