Dr. Ho began chronicling his experiences at medical school back in the summer of 2009, when he was accepted to AUC. His thoughtful posts quickly garnered a large following, and his blog has since become a source of guidance and inspiration for scores of premed students considering international medical school. Now, nearly 10 years since beginning the blog, Dr. Ho is a family medicine physician in his hometown of Macon, GA, after completing his residency at Mercer University School of Medicine.
While in New Orleans, Dr. Ho attended an AUC alumni reception held at New Orleans Social House and took a few minutes to catch up with Gus Galue, Lead of Alumni Relations. Watch the 5-minute video on the AUC Alumni Facebook page >
When asked about his advice for students interested in medicine, Dr. Ho encouraged students to look within themselves to find what specialty resonates with them.
“Just go with what your heart says. No one really can tell you, ‘you should do this or that’… Really look into it yourself,” Dr. Ho said. “Everyone’s personality is different, everyone’s goals are different. Don’t just go with the money, go with your passion.”
Dr. Ho also wrote a new blog post reflecting on his experience in New Orleans, where he had the opportunity to reconnect with a number of fellow alumni, faculty and staff, including a few professors from his days on campus.
“These individuals from AUC were the ones that helped get us to where we are today, and I am grateful for their guidance in my journey,” Dr. Ho wrote. “I think reunions like these make us feel proud to be part of a larger AUC family.”
