AUC graduate Christina Perez-Arche, MD '22 has been elected as student speaker for AUC’s 2022 Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 21, 2022. Dr. Perez-Arche, an incoming pediatric resident physician at Nicklaus Children's Hospital in Miami, and a member of AUC’s graduating class, is one of several speakers who will give remarks during Commencement. The ceremony will be livestreamed on Facebook beginning at 7:00 pm ET.
Born in Miami and fueled by cafecito, Dr. Perez-Arche worked fiercely to become the first doctor in her family. She earned her bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences from the University of Central Florida. Her passion for community health led her to obtain a master’s in public health from the University of Miami. During this time, she worked for the City of Miami on a public health initiative called Live Healthy Little Havana.
While at AUC, Dr. Perez-Arche has demonstrated remarkable leadership skills and a boundless commitment to the AUC community through her extensive service in the Student Government Association (SGA) spanning all four years of medical school. She has pursued every opportunity to ensure the student voice is represented at all levels of decision making and provided mentorship in service to her campus community. In addition to co-founding the SGA Research Symposium and SGA RISE Core Values; Dr. Perez-Arche led a restructuring of SGA in an effort to create a stronger connection between the medical and clinical sciences students of Sint Maarten, the UK, and the US. Dr. Perez-Arche is a recipient of the Student Engagement Award, an Empower Scholarship Fund award, and the SGA Service Award.
Dr. Perez-Arche is passionate about advocacy and mentorship. She spends her free time watching true crime with her best friend, Helen the French bulldog. She is thankful to the AUC community for the many opportunities she has been given to lead and study with such a talented group of young physicians. She believes the Class of 2022’s success is a testament to their commitment to Resilience Inclusion Service and Excellence (RISE). This summer, she will be starting her pediatric residency at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami.
