As an Associate Clinical Dean since 2021, Dr. Pirani has educational and administrative oversight of AUC’s 17 clinical sites in the US, including all core clerkships and electives. She visits every AUC US clinical site on a regular basis and supports all US activities in clinical sciences for both students and faculty. She works collaboratively with US sites to guide standardization of the educational experience and continuous quality improvement; review students’ academic performance data and individual clinical data to inform programmatic initiatives; and visit US sites regularly where she leads clinical faculty development initiatives. She is also the primary point of contact for all AUC faculty at US sites. Dr. Pirani was an Interim Dean at AUC in 2020.
Dr. Pirani graduated from the Doctor of Medicine program at Saba University School of Medicine, Saba, Netherlands-Antilles in 2008. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at University of Missouri Kansas City (UMKC) in 2011 and participated in AAMC’s Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) Certificate Fellowship in 2018. Most recently, Dr. Pirani served as the Senior Associate Dean of Medical Education at the UMKC School of Medicine. In her 10 years on the faculty at UMKC, she has developed extensive knowledge of undergraduate and post-graduate medical education including expertise in accreditation. She previously served as Associate Program Director for UMKC’s Internal Medicine residency program. Dr. Pirani and her family reside in Kansas City, Missouri where she practices primary care internal medicine.
