Nurbanu Pirani, MD, FACP

Dr. Nurbanu “Nurry” Pirani serves as Chief Academic Officer as well as Senior associate Dean of Academic affairs.
In these roles Dr. Pirani has oversight of academic affairs for the Sint Maarten campus and UK track in addition to all clinical sites. As senior associate dean for academic affairs, she manages accreditation and approval processes, and will help develop new strategic programs for AUC. While representing the AUC academic community to internal and external constituencies, Dr. Pirani is responsible for leading the faculty, staff, and administrative teams on academic and instructional matters relevant to student and academic success.
Dr. Pirani joined AUC in 2020 as interim associate dean for US clinical site management. She is an internal medicine physician by training and has extensive knowledge of undergraduate and post-graduate medical education, especially related to international medical students.
Dr. Pirani previously served as the senior associate dean of medical education at the University of Missouri‒Kansas City (UMKC) School of Medicine and as associate program director for UMKC’s Internal Medicine residency program.
An international medical graduate herself, Dr. Pirani graduated from the Doctor of Medicine program at Saba University School of Medicine, Saba, Netherlands-Antilles in 2008. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at University of Missouri‒Kansas City (UMKC) in 2011 and participated in AAMC’s Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) Certificate Fellowship in 2018.
Dr. Pirani and her family reside in Kansas City, Missouri, where she practices primary care internal medicine.
