Alexey Podcheko, MD, PhD

Dr. Podcheko MD Ph.D. is a Clinical Endocrinologist with more than twenty years of experience in active medical research, medical education, and academic administration. Dr. Podcheko graduated from Smolensk State Medical University, Russia in 1995. In 1997 he completed the Clinical Endocrinology and Diabetology Residency program and become a licensed Endocrinologist. In 1997 he was appointed as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Sciences at the Department of Clinical Endocrinology, Smolensk State Medical University, Russia. In 2005 Dr. Podcheko's research interest in the molecular biology of endocrine diseases led him to complete the Ph.D. program at the Department of Molecular Medicine, Nagasaki University Medical School, Japan. Between 2005-2010 Dr. Podcheko completed Postdoctoral Training at the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology, University of Toronto, Toronto, ON, Canada.
Since 2010 Dr. Podcheko has joined the Department of Basic Sciences as an Associated Professor and was teaching Clinical Skills, Pathology, and USMLE STEP1 review courses in several overseas medical schools. His approach to teaching and leadership focuses on the personal development of each student, the use of critical thinking skills, the use of active and interactive teaching sessions, and the use of effective mentoring. The area of Dr. Podcheko's research interests are the clinical and molecular pathology of the Thyroid and endocrine pancreas. Dr. Podcheko is co-author of 10 publications in peer-reviewed journals and numerous books and chapters.
