Ángel M Matos, MD

Dr. Angel M. Matos Lugo is a Puerto Rican Primary Care Physician with over ten years of experience in Global Health Practice, Medical Education, and Higher Education Administration. Before joining AUC, he was the Inaugural Dean of Student Success at UAG International School of Medicine in Guadalajara, Mexico. Dr. Matos led the Accelerated Review Program (ARP) and founded the Global Health Institute at UMHS Medical School in Saint Kitts, where he was also an Associate Professor of Medical Education.

In Puerto Rico, he worked as an Associate Dean of Health Sciences taught and conducted research projects at multiple academic institutions. He volunteers to the Board of Trustees of Albizu University in Miami, FL, San Juan, and Mayagüez, PR.

Dr. Matos has vast experience in Global Health, providing primary health care services and leading medical missions in Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Costa Rica, and the Peruvian Amazon. Also, he has professional training in Business and Law from Vanderbilt University and Graduate Studies in Humanitarian Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He obtained an MD from the UAG School of Medicine and a Bachelor’s in Natural Science and Business from the University of Puerto Rico.
