In honor of Black History Month, the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine (ABM) recognized Dr. Natacha Pierre and other change makers who are working to address disparities in breastfeeding for people of color.
Dr. Pierre graduated from AUC in 2015 and is currently completing her pediatric residency at Maimonides Infants and Children's Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. She is expected to finish her residency in 2018.
In July 2016, Dr. Pierre participated in ABM's Eighth Annual Symposium at the Pew Charitable Trusts in Washington, DC. She was joined by Dr. Julie Taylor, Senior Associate Dean of Clinical Sciences at AUC, who is also the president of ABM. Her presentation, "My Baby Won't Latch! And other Breastfeeding Challenges" is available on ABM's website.
ABM is a worldwide organization of physicians dedicated to the promotion, protection, and support of breastfeeding and human lactation.
