*The 3-year first-time residency attainment rate is the weighted average of the 2022-23, through 2024-25 academic years. For each year, the rate is the percent of students attaining a residency out of all graduates or expected graduates in the year who were active applicants in the NRMP match in that year or who attained a residency outside the NRMP match in that year. The 1-year first-time residency attainment rate is 95% for 2024-2025 graduates.

We are delighted to share that the AUC Sint Maarten Campus Summer 2025 Research Symposium took place in person on Saturday, August 3, 2025, which was hosted by the Student Government Association and the Scholarly Activity & Research Committee. The symposium featured 13 wonderful presentations on clinical cases, biomedical sciences, social sciences, and advances in medical technology. We would like to take a moment to celebrate the incredible achievements and share a summary of this remarkable event. This semester symposium was not only productive but also a vibrant showcase of innovative research and collaborative spirit.
“The quality of presentations and the stimulating discussions that followed were truly inspiring, and it was wonderful to witness the enthusiasm and passion of our students as they engaged with their peers. Their relentless pursuit of excellence is a testament to the dedication we have cultivated within our academic community. Thank you to everyone involved for making the symposium a resounding success. Your hard work, collaboration, and dedication to fostering an environment of learning and innovation are greatly appreciated. Let’s continue to support and encourage one another in our efforts to shape the future of research and education”, said Dr. Naira Chobanyan, chair of SARC.
Altogether, 95 talented students had the opportunity to share their insights and findings, contributing to a truly enriching experience for everyone involved. We would like to extend heartfelt congratulations to the following groups, who stood out for their outstanding performances and were recognized for their excellence:
- The first place in research presentation was awarded to “Beyond the eye: predicting glioblastoma frailty through molecular signatures”
- In the case presentation category, the first-place award was granted to “Management of chemoresistant molar pregnancy: A case of persistent trophoblastic disease in a 33-year-old female”
The topics that received second and third positions in research presentations were:
- “A sticky solution: bone wax preserves physeal integrity in children with juxtaphyseal and transphyseal ABCs”
- "Development of a realistic neck skin model for use with an internal jugular central venous catheter manikin”
The second and third. places in case presentations were awarded to:
- “The impact of HIIT on the pathophysiology of diabetic cardiomyopathy”
- “The puzzle of prolonged pediatric fever: A case of juvenile idiopathic arthritis”
In recognition of the winner’s hard work and dedication, each winning group was awarded a well-deserved certificate, along with a $50 gift card to a delightful neighborhood restaurant — a small token of appreciation for their exceptional contributions! Furthermore, every student who participated received a personalized certificate celebrating their individual efforts and achievements, underscoring the value of their commitment to advancing knowledge and research in our community.
