On June 2 and 3, 113 members of the Learning Community were invited to "Picnic on the Patio," an event designed for members to connect and get to know one another. Informal interactions between students and faculty were encouraged to build relationships and support vertical learning across different levels of experience. Participants had the opportunity to eat good food and compete in "Med Jeopardy" to test their medical knowledge. One student said, "the event was very fun! I personally enjoyed the jeopardy game even though my team came in last!"
The event was filled with energy and excitement on both days, creating a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere. It was heartwarming to see students fully engaged—not just in the medical Jeopardy review, but in building a sense of community and camaraderie. The sight of everyone proudly wearing their Learning Community t-shirts added a special touch, reinforcing a shared sense of identity and team spirit. Clear role definitions sent prior to the event ensured everything ran smoothly, and the presence of four orientation advisors each day, supervised by student affairs coordinator Fallon Peterson-Powers, was key to keeping things on track. The addition of photographers was a thoughtful detail that helped capture the lively moments. Thanks to strong support from the LC Committee, student care advisors, Monica Dhameja, Timothy Nash and Angela Cuba, felt well-supported and were able to contribute meaningfully to the overall coordination. Overall, it was a joyful and successful event that brought learning and community together in the best way possible!
