Class of 2019 graduate Dr. Constantine "Aki" Kanakis was recently named to The Pathologist magazine's Power List 2020, a prestigious list which highlights influential figures in pathology and laboratory medicine.
Dr. Kanakis is a PGY-1 pathology and laboratory medicine resident at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago, and served as this year's student Commencement speaker. For the Power List 2020, he was recognized in the category of "The Social Network," which features social media users who have harnessed online platforms for education, outreach, and community-building.
“The growing number of pathologists on social media is proof positive that it’s a continuing influence, both for content as well as addressing our pipeline problem,” Dr. Kanakis said in The Pathologist.
Dr. Kanakis has been actively engaged in the pathology community and has received numerous awards for his work, including the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Medical Student Award and being named an ASCP “Top 40 Under Forty” laboratory medicine professional. He has also served as an online ASCP staff writer for the past four years.
