As part of the board, Dr. Valigorsky will serve the state by regulating medical practice in Pennsylvania and overseeing the licensure, registration and certification of the state’s medical professionals.
Dr. Valigorsky is the Medical Director of the Anesthesiology Department of the Anesthesiology Department and Pain Management Clinic at Penn Highlands Healthcare in DuBois, Pennsylvania, where he has practiced since 1994. He was nominated to serve by state Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati, according to local media outlet The Progress News.
“I have known Dr. Valigorsky for many years and have always been impressed by his medical knowledge and professionalism,” Sen. Scarnati said in the article. “He has provided outstanding medical care for rural Pennsylvanians for more than two decades. I was very pleased to nominate Dr. Valigorsky to the State Board of Medicine, and know that with his extensive experience and tireless work ethic, he will be a great addition to the board.”
Previously at Penn Highlands, Dr. Valigorsky served as Chairman of the Department of Anesthesia, Chairman of the Department of Surgery, Chairman of the OR Governance Committee and Vice-Chairman of the Department of Surgery. He completed his anesthesiology residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia in 1994. Dr. Valigorsky grew up in Weedville—just a half hour’s drive from where he currently lives and practices in DuBois.
Dr. Valigorsky is the second AUC alum in two years to be appointed to a State Board of Medicine. Last year, Melbourne-based primary care physician Stephanie Haridopolos, MD ‘98 was named to the Florida Board of Medicine.
