Magdalena Kwiatkowska, MD, PhD
Associate Dean, Chair of Clinical Medical Sciences
Magdalena Kwiatkowska, MD, PhD, is the chair of the clinical medical sciences department on the Sint Maarten campus and Interim Associate Dean of Curriculum. She brings 21 years of experience in clinical practice, education and leadership to the role.
Prior to rejoining AUC in September 2021, Dr. Kwiatkowska was a consultant, orthopedic and trauma surgeon in the Department of Orthopaedics, Paediatric Orthopaedics and Traumatology at the Centre of Postgraduate Medical Education, Gruca Teaching Hospital in Poland and at the Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, Ireland, with affiliation to the Royal College of Surgeons. She completed her fellowship in clubfoot treatment at the University Hospital in Iowa.
Previously, she served in a variety of academic positions at AUC, University Medical School of Warsaw, Poland, and the Center of Postgraduate Medical Education in Warsaw, Poland. In her role as chair of clinical medical sciences, Dr. Kwiatkowska leads the department and ensures high-quality clinical education and academic achievement, as demonstrated in medical student outcomes, faculty engagement, and scholarly productivity. Additionally, she is responsible for recruiting and mentoring faculty, nurturing student professional development, and fostering inclusion and interprofessionalism.
Dr. Kwiatkowska earned a Doctor of Medicine and Doctor of Philosophy at the Medical University of Warsaw, Poland. She is the author of several research papers published in Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy, Journal of Pediatric Orthopedics, Journal of Children’s Orthopedics and The Journal of Joint and Bone Surgery.
