Magdalena Kwiatkowska, MD, PhD

Magdalena Kwiatkowska, MD, PhD, serves as the Interim Senior Associate Dean of the SXM Campus, Associate Dean of Curriculum, and Professor of Orthopedic and Trauma Surgery. With over 22 years of experience in clinical practice, education, and leadership, Dr. Kwiatkowska brings a wealth of expertise to her roles.

Prior to her return to AUC in September 2021, Dr. Kwiatkowska worked as a consultant orthopedic and trauma surgeon at the Centre of Postgraduate Medical Education, Gruca Teaching Hospital in Poland, and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, Ireland. She completed her fellowship in pediatric orthopedics at the University Hospital in Iowa, United States. She is currently practicing medicine at the Sint Maarten Medical Center.

Throughout her career, Dr. Kwiatkowska has held various academic positions at institutions such as the American University of the Caribbean, School of Medicine, University Medical School of Warsaw, Poland, and the Center of Postgraduate Medical Education in Warsaw, Poland. In her leadership capacities, she oversees the SXM campus, Clinical Medical Science Department, and curriculum, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, modern medical education. Dr. Kwiatkowska is dedicated to fostering faculty engagement, supporting student professional development, and promoting inclusion and interprofessional education.

Dr. Kwiatkowska earned her Doctor of Medicine and Doctor of Philosophy in anatomy from the Medical University of Warsaw, Poland. She has authored numerous research papers and book chapters published in reputable journals such as Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy, Journal of Pediatric Orthopedics, Journal of Children’s Orthopedics, and The Journal of Joint and Bone Surgery. Beyond her professional achievements, Dr. Kwiatkowska takes pride in her role as a mother of four sons.
