Erika Regalado, MD
Erika Regalado, MD, has served as AUC’s clinical chair of pediatrics since January 2019 and was appointed associate clinical dean for the US, effective January 2023. In her role as the associate clinical dean for the US, Dr. Regalado has educational and administrative oversight of AUC’s 17 clinical sites in the US, including all core clerkships and electives. She works collaboratively with US sites to guide standardization of the educational experience and continuous quality improvement; reviews students’ academic performance data and individual clinical data to inform programmatic initiatives; and visits US sites regularly and leads innovative faculty development initiatives.
Dr. Regalado has been an attending pediatrician at BronxCare Health System in Bronx, New York, and has been taking care of the children of the South Bronx for 15 years. Dr. Regalado has been working in undergraduate and graduate medical education and has long supported clinical training for AUC students, including as the pediatric clerkship site director at BronxCare for over a decade. She has participated in AUC’s Curriculum Review and Recommendations Task Force, and the Curricular Mapping Committee, which aligns pediatric clerkship goals and objectives with ACGME residency competencies. In addition, she has served as the director of BronxCare’s pediatric residency program, with responsibility for the educational curriculum as well as recruiting and mentoring new residents. She has been actively involved in research and has mentored both residents and students in their research and quality improvement projects.
Dr. Regalado earned her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore.
